The first large fried chicken steak in Taiwan was originally sold at a small stall in front of a 7-Eleven in Taichung. It was known as Haoda Chicken Steak (好大鸡排), which originated from Xiao Wang Chicken Steak, also based in Taichung. The brand stood out by using a unique chicken processing technique and a special blend of Chinese herbal marinades, creating a distinctive flavor and texture.
Later, the main Haoda Chicken Steak shop opened in front of the Yangming Theater at the Shilin Night Market in Taipei. It quickly became a local sensation and a signature street food of the night market, selling up to 3,000 pieces per day. The immense popularity turned Haoda Chicken Steak, now known internationally as Hot Star Large Fried Chicken, into one of Taiwans most iconic and beloved snacks.
Another highlight is the BBQ large fried chicken steak, which is first grilled, then fried, and coated with a rich, savory barbecue sauce a special menu item that enhances the juicy tenderness of chicken breast.
In the future, Hot Star also plans to develop and introduce Thai-style menu innovations, blending local tastes with its signature large chicken steak concept.
